Blog blah...

Today was a down day, a day of endings and a day of transitions.  The Nelson team got away this morning, so it's been empty and quiet here, and kind of down like the ending of a fun-filled family holiday when you're reflecting back on the precious moments you've just had with family or friends. All the while knowing that that has come to an end and will likely never come again, but still stuck back there, before something new arrives on the horizon to capture your mind and emotions and alter your focus to the present and future.

In addition to these we're also at a big transition in the Technical School project. The ground floor pour took 4 days and is now complete.  Haitians started on the block walls today, and tying rebar for beams and getting equipment in PAP.  The pour went pretty well, though we noticed a few mistakes and issues that can be dealt with down the road, and are to be expected especially in this hectic environment.  We still have room to improve!

Again on the down theme, just after breakfast cries emanated from the back kitchen room and we soon learned that the husband of one of the kitchen staff, Madame Luc had just died after a short illness. It was not totally unexpected as he had some issues, but it came pretty suddenly and of course is tragic, leaving everyone hurting.

This evening the tent “expert” arrived from PAP to assist with setting the tent up in the morning.  He apparently can do it with 4 guys, which seems amazing to me as a dozen of us couldn’t manage before, but then again expertise does count for something.  I’ll be taking notes and lots of pictures, and reporting on results shortly...
