Tent, magnifique!

Today started early with prayer at 0600 hrs, which was great, a cool morning walk down to Marc & Lisa's then discussion and prayer, which helped focus us on the days ahead as we get a few projects done in between groups and prepare for the next group, arriving next Monday.  The blahs are passing and now its onward and upwards.

The ladies led by Cathy are focusing on a kitchen overhaul, trying to reconfigure the kitchen so we know what's what, where it is and that things are being used, as well as a spring cleaning and general tidying up. It is going well, but its meant a couple of late nights as the work has to happen in the evening after cooking, etc is done for the day.

On other fronts, I'm still trying to get the staff badges redone, a simple task but hard to fit around many other things.  I hope to finish it off this week.  We're also noticing the furniture in the offices and chairs are pretty much a miss-mash and causing a lot of aches and pains as they are not properly fitting users.  Although that may be acceptable for occasional use, its cause for alarm full-time which can lead to serious repetitive-use injuries so its something that's being looked at to make sure that Lisa and Geanne, at the least, in the main office are outfitted properly.

Finally, today was a bit of redemption of sorts as we got back to the tent which caused so many difficulties a couple of weeks ago.  A tent expert was called in, and he, his assistant and a few others managed to get it set up, right side up and all in just over a couple of hours.  They also only needed a handful of men to raise the centre poles which led to so much angst previously.  As I said yesterday, expertise does matter!  As David (the expert) was explaining, most buildings get constructed from a solid central core and builds outwards, just the opposite of tents.  With tents, the outside goes up first, relieving pressure for the centre which then goes up much more readily.  It did, and the tent looks great!
Magnifique!

  2. Looks real easy Chris; the tent that is. Ha! Thanks for the blog. Only way to feel a real part of things. I've been reading it every day. Pass on my condolences to Madame Luc. We've all been very sad to hear of her tradgic loss.
